MY GRANDFATHER
 
Tech/Sgt. Robert Coleman Wyland*
b. on Jan 17, 1916 in VA. Enlisted on July 7, 1941 he left for his final exam at
Roanoke, Va, he passed the exam and boarded a train for Camp Lee ( Fort Lee) at midnight.
Arrived at Camp Lee early in the morning of July 8, 1941 spent 3 days at Camp Lee and was
sent to Camp Wheeler, GA, we were their about 4 or 5 days. On Oct 16, 1941 when basic was
finished he was transfer from Camp Wheeler, GA to the 211th Military Police Co. Jackson's
Barracks, New Orleans. On April 1, 1942 was transfer to the 230th Military Police Co. Jackson's
Barracks. On June 1, 1942 was transfer to New Orleans, Staging area. On Aug 8, 1942 was transfer
to Jackson's Barracks. On Sept 20, 1943 attend Tank school at Ford Plank, he like this work. On
Dec 29, 1943 was transferred to N. O. P. E. Ships compement. Staff Sgt 230th Military Police
Co. Jackson's Barracks. TECH/SGT SHIPS COMPLEMENT 9222ND TSU TC
MY GRANDUNCLES
 
Tech/Sgt. Lewis Harry Wyland*
b. on December 15, 1917. Enlisted on July 7, 1941 he left for his final exam
at Roanoke, Va, he passed the exam and boarded a train for Camp Lee ( Fort Lee)
at midnight. Arrived at Camp Lee early in the morning of July 8, 1941 spent 3 days
at Camp Lee and was sent to Camp Wheeler GA, we were their about 4 or 5 days. When basic
was finished Harry was sent to 703rd M. P. Bn arlington, va. He was assingned to 1st Platoon,
Co. B, 9th Bn. On Feb 26, 1986 he died.

b. on Oct 13, 1896. Enlisted on Oct 2, 1942 in Richmond, VA into
the US Army Air Corps. SGT 57TH TRP CARRIER SQ ARMY AF

Pvt. Boyd Adair Wyland*
b. on Jul 01, 1916. Enlisted on Jul 19, 1944 in Fort Levenworth, KS. US Army WW2.
On Sep 23, 1974 he died. Buried in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln, Logan Co, IL.
 
Pvt. Clarence Gordon Wyland
b. Abt. 1925 in Glyndon, MN. Enlisted on Oct 17, 1944. US Army WW2. He died in Glyndon, MN.
 
T/Sgt. Dean Leroy Wyland*
b. on January 14, 1917. US Army Air Corps WW2. The B-17
piloted by Walter F. Carnal crashed at Germany on October
14th, 1943, at the small village of Machtilshausen. My Cousin
was part of the Walter F. Carnal crew that was the first Combat
crew of the 379 BG. The plane crashed at Machtilshausen (2 KIA, 8 POW).
On August 22, 1995 he died.

b. on Apr 10, 1912 in OR. Enlisted on Jun 2, 1942 in Portland, OR. US Army WW2.
On Apr 22, 1998 he died in Clackamas Co, OR.
 
Seaman. Elmo L. Wyland*
b. on Feb 22, 1912 in Onawa, Monoma Co, IA. US Navy WW2. On Apr 02, 1973 he died
in Lincoln, Logan Co, IL. Buried in Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski, Logan Co. IL.
 
PFC. Fred Darald Wyland
b. on Jun 27, 1916 in Independence, OR. Enlisted on May 13, 1942 in Portland, OR. Army Air Corps WW2.
On Sep 28, 1998 he died in Scappoose, Columbia, OR. Buried in Willamette National Cemetery, Happy
Valley, Clackamas Co, OR.
 
Seaman. Fred Elliot Wyland*
b. on Nov 24, 1919 in IA. Enlisted on Nov 1, 1940 at Fort Dodge. US Navy WW2. He took his training
at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station. He was station at Norfolk, VA, for a short time
and was in Panama where he had been for two years. On Feb 24, 1995 he died in Marin Co, CA.
 
Lt. Hubert Warren Wyland
b. on Nov 18, 1917 in Monte Vista, Rio Grande, CO. Enlisted on Feb 24, 1941. US Army WW2. He served
in the Colorado National Guard from 1937 to 1940 rising to the rank of staff sergeant. He joined the
United States Army and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Having attained the rank of
lieutenant, he left the service at the end of 1945 with numerous combat honors, including three bronze
stars. On Mar 3, 2008 he died in Monte Vista, Rio Grande, CO. Buried in COLORADO STATE VETERANS CEMETERY,
Monte Vista, Rio Grande, CO. Also known as: Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake Cemetery and Sailors
Home Cemetery.
 
Pvt. James Warren Wyland
b. on Jun 11, 1926 in Mitchell, Davison Co, SD. Enlisted on Nov 24, 1944 in
Fort Levenworth, KS. US Army Air Corps WW2. On Jun 7, 2009 he died in Hinsdale,
Cook Co, IL.
 
Ensign. Jerry Dale Wyland
b. in 1923. Aviation Machinist's Mate, Second Class, U.S. Navy.
Entered the Service from: Iowa
On May 11, 1945 he died.
