William Harrison Thompson b. on Aug 15, 1841 in VA. Enlisted on May 30, 1861 at Buffalo Springs, VA into the Amherst Rifle Grays Co. I, 19th Va Infantry at the age of 20. He was wounded three times. On July 3, 1863 He was wounded in hip by a minnie ball at the battle of Gettysburg which he carried for the rest of his life. On July 4, 1863 Absent Wounded. On May 15, 1864 Absent, sick. On May 23, 1864 Shot in left foot and Hospitalized at Chimborazo Hospl, Richmond, Va. He is Listed in 1910 Nelson, VA census, age 69, as a farmer. He was described as the day of his enlistment as 5' 10.0", florid complexion, black eyes, dark hair. On Mar 31, 1911 he died in Amherst Co, VA. Buried in Thompson Cemetery, Nelson Co, VA.
