William Columbus Coffey Enlisted on March 20, 1863 at Caldwell County, NC into Co. I, 26th NC Infantry. On Jan 15, 1863 He transferred out and into Co. E, 58th NC Infantry. On April 15, 1863 On rolls. On April 30, 1862 Promotioned to Corpl. On Aug 20, 1863 Transfer from company E to Field & Staff Detailed As regt QM Sergt. On Sept 19, 1863 Wounded in right side at Chickamauga, GA. On May 30, 1864 On rolls. On June 1, 1864 Transfer from Field & Staff to company E. On Aug 15, 1864 Promotioned to 2nd Lieut. On Aug 31, 1864 On rolls. On Oct 22, 1864 Promotioned to 2nd Lieut. On Jan 10, 1865 Hospitalized With pneumonia at West Point, MS. On March 15, 1865 Returned. On March 19, 1865 Promotioned to 1st Lieut and Wounded in left finger & right thumb at Bentonville, NC and Transfer from company E to company A. On April 15, 1865 Promotioned to 1st Lieut and Transfer from company E to company A.
