He holds a Whitney of C. S. manufactured Spiller & Burr revolver.
His sword, although covered in gilt paint, resembles a type manufactured in Richmond.



Thomas Jefferson Coffey b. on Dec 1828 in Patterson, Caldwell Co. NC. Enlisted on July 5, 1862 at Caldwell County, NC into Co. E, 58th NC Infantry As acting Asst QM most of war On July 29, 1862 Promotioned to 2nd Lieut. On Aug 31, 1864 Promotioned to 1st Lieut and On rolls. On Sept 9, 1863 Promotioned to Asst QM and Transfer from company E to Field & Staff. On June 1, 1864 Transfer from Field & Staff to company E. On March 14, 1865 Hospitalized with phthisis "which is a wasting away of the body, usually caused by tuberculosis" at Charlotte, NC and on furloughed. In Jun 1901 he died.
