Samuel Cole Stevens b. on June 19, 1823 Enlisted on April 19, 1861 at Petersburg, Va as 1st lieutenant into the 12th Va Infantry. In 1860 in Petersburg he was the proprietor of a china, glass and queensware store, N. Sycamore St., and he roomed on Union St between Washington and Tabb Sts. On June 18, 1861 he was appointed acting quarter master of the regiment. Sept 11,1861 he was promoted to Captain and appointed regimental quartermaster. After the War he was Sheriff of the city of Petersburg from 1873 to 74.
