Marcellus Campbell b. in Oct 15, 1842 in Amherst Co, VA. Enlisted on March 15, 1862 at Amherst Courthouse in the Amherst Rifle Grays Co. I, 19th Va Infantry. On Aug 30, 1862 he was wounded in the battle of Second Manassas, absent through Aug 1863. He returned to the unit by Sept - Oct 1863. On May 26, 1864 admitted to Chimborazo Hospital #5 for lung disease and furlonghed for sixty days on june 9, 1864. On Dec 1, 1911 he died in Amherst Co, VA.
