Marshall Ambler Moncure b. on October 23, 1840 in Richmond, Va. Virginia Military Institute, Class of 1865. Drilled recruits in Richmond in the Spring of 1861. Enlisted on March 6, 1862 at Camp Bate into Co. B, 9th Va Cavalry. On detached service in the spring of 1863. On June 24, 1863 wounded in the hand. On Jan. 18, 1900 he died in Raceway, Dinwiddie Co.
