James Preston Hambleton b. on May 4, 1827 in Amherst Co, VA. 5'5" dk. complex, dk. hair and blue eyes enlisted on May 29, 1861 at Buffalo Springs in the Amherst Rifle Grays Co. I, 19th Va Infantry at the age of 31. On July 29, 1862 present until discharged not subject to conscription law. On Jan 20, 1863 reenlisted at Buffalo Springs detailed as butcher. On July 8, 1864 present on last roll.
