Henry Clay Coffey was born on December 31, 1841. Enlisted on July 15, 1861 at Caldwell County, NC at the of 18 years old into Co. F, 26th NC Infantry. On rolls through Feb. 1865. On April 12, 1862 Promotioned to Sergt. On July 1, 1863 he was Wounded in the wrist and POW at Gettysburg, PA. On July 3, 1863 Hospitalized at Gettysburg, PA. On Aug 27, 1863 Transferred Federal Provost Marshall. On Jan 1, 1864 Exchanged. On March 1, 1864 Returned. On March 15, 1864 Promotioned to Priv Reduced to ranks.
