  MY GREAT-GREAT GRANDFATHER

  Pvt. Daniel Goode Campbell* b. November 02, 1845 Enlisted on June 3, 1861 at Charlottesville into the Amherst Rifle Grays Co. I, 19th Va Infantry at the age of 15 years old. He was wounded at the Battle of Gaines' Mill on June 27,1862.

  Pvt. Martin Van Burean Campbell* b.October 22, 1842 Enlisted on June 10, 1861 at Culpeper Courthouse Va into the Nelson Grays Co. G,19th Va Infantry at the age of 19 years old. He was assigned as a teamster. Then he was a courier for General George Pickett from October 1862 to December 1864.

  Pvt. Thomas J. Campbell* b. 1837 Enlisted on May 1, 1861 at Massie Mill into the Nelson Grays Co. G, 19th Va Infantry at the age of 25 years old. On Oct 1861 to Feb 1862 he was assigned as a teamster. On March 3, 1863 listed as having died at Petersburg hospital of Pneumonia.

  Pvt. Alexander Spears Campbell b. Abt. 1836 CSA.

  Pvt. Andrew Baxter Campbell* b. in 1841 Enlisted on May 29, 1861 at Greenville. On June 30, 1861 he was mustered in at Camp Stephens into the Augusta Grays Co. E, 5th Va Infantry. On May 5, 1864 he was seriously wounded in the chest at the battle of the Wilderness.

  Pvt. Andrew Campbell b. in 1836 Enlisted on Apr 19, 1861 at Buffalo Springs, Va into Amherst Rifle Grays Co. I, 19th Va Infantry at the age of 15 years old. On Jan 15, 1862 Detailed to drive brigade wagons. On Feb 15, 1862 Returned. On April 1, 1862 Hospitalized with dyspepsia at Charlottesville, VA. On Apr 4, 1862 Furloughed. On July 15, 1863 Returned. On Nov 15, 1863 he was transferred out and into Nelson VA Light Artillery.

  Pvt. B. B. Campbell* Enlisted on April 28, 1864 at Fredericksburg VA into the Chesapeake Cavalry Co. I, 5th Va Cavalry. He was absent on horse detail on April 20, 1864

  Pvt. Bartholomew B. Campbell* b. on Jan 22, 1843 Enlisted on Aug 31, 1864 in Nelson Co, Va into Rives' Battery Nelson Co. Artillery.Present on all Musters thoughout the war. He was a resident of Massies Mill. Postwar Policeman in Buena Vista Va, and a farmer on the 1900 Census. He is buried in the Buena Vista Cemetery on Rt. # 745 in Buena Vista.

  Pvt. Charles William Campbell b. in 1832 Enlisted on Mar 10, 1862 at Lexington, Va into Co. C, 1st Va Cavalry at the age of 29 years old. On Mar 15, 1863 Detached. On Apr 15, 1863 Returned. On May 9, 1864 POW at Todd's Tavern, VA. On May 15, 1864 Confined at Elmira, NY. On Mar 10, 1863 Exchanged. On Apr 10, 1865 He deserted to US Forces at Clarksburg, WV.

  Pvt. David J. Campbell b. Abt. 1831 Enlisted on May 1, 1862 at Staunton, Va into Co. E, 5th Va Infantry at the age of 31 years old. On June 9, 1862 Wounded at Port Republic, VA. On June 11, 1862 Confined at Winchester, VA. On June 15, 1862 Confined at Jordan's Springs Hospl. On Aug 15, 1863 Returned. On Nov 27, 1863 Wounded in left thigh and hip at Payne's Farm, VA. On Nov 29, 1863 Hospitalized at Richmond, VA. On Feb 12, 1865 He was transferred out and into Veteran Reserve Corps.

  Pvt. Edward Stephen Campbell b. in 1831 Enlisted on Sept 3, 1861 at Massie Mill into Lamkin's Amherst-Nelson Light Artillery. On June 23, 1862 Died typhoid fever at Charleston SC. Buried Magnolia Cemetery, Charleston, SC.

  Pvt. Francis M. Campbell b. Abt. 1836 Enlisted on Apr 22, 1862 at Gordonsville, Va into Co. F, 13th Va Inf. On Aug 9, 1862 Absent, sick. On Sept 15, 1862 Deserted. On Feb 8, 1863 Returned. On May 4, 1863 killed at Fredericksburg, Va.

  Pvt. George R. Campbell b. on April 15, 1842 Enlisted on Aug 31, 1861 at Nelson County, Va into Rives' Amherst-Nelson Light Artillery at the age of 31 years old. On Dec 14, 1861 Hospitalized at Richmond, Va. On Feb 28, 1865 on rolls through this date.

  Pvt James K. Polk Campbell* b. on Jan 22, 1844 Enlisted on Feb 22, 1864 in Richmond, Va into Rives' Battery Nelson Co. Artillery. Present on all Musters thereafter.

  Pvt. Joseph C. Campbell b. in 1830 Enlisted as a Private into Rives' Amherst-Nelson Light Artillery.

  Pvt. Josiah Campbell b. in 1836 Enlisted on Apr 29, 1861 at Buffalo Springs, Va into the Amherst Rifle Grays Co. I, 19th Va Infantry at the age of 24 years old. On July 15, 1861 Absent, sick. On Dec 15, 1861 Returned. On June 27, 1862 Wounded at Gaines' Mill, Va. On June 29, 1862 Hospitalized with severe wound in shoulder at Howard's Grove Gnl Hospl, Richmond, Va. On July 15, 1863 Returned. On Oct 10, 1864 On rolls.

  Pvt. Leroy M. Campbell* b. on February 07, 1820 Enlisted on Aug 31, 1861 in Nelson Co, Va into Rives' Battery Nelson Co. Artillery. On Oct 31, 1863 sick at home. On April 17, 1864 Admitted to CSA General Hospital in Charlottesville, Va. On April 21, 1864 Returned to duty. Postwar farmer Montebello, Nelson Co, Va 1907.

  Pvt. Marcellus Campbell* Enlisted on March 15, 1862 at Amherst Courthouse in the Amherst Rifle Grays Co. I,19th Va Infantry. On Aug 30, 1862 he was wounded in the battle of Second Manassas.

  5th Corpl. Nimrod McPherson Campbell* b. on June 10, 1843 Enlisted on Aug 10, 1861 at Fairfield, Va into Co. B, 52nd Va Infantry at the age of 18 years old. On Sept 28, 1861 He was transferred out and into the 2nd" Co. VA Rockbridge 2nd Light Artillery. On Nov 15, 1863 Promoted to 5th Corpl. On June 14, 1864 Hospitalized with acute diarrhoea at Richmond, Va. On July 15, 1864 On rolls Present, no further record.

  Pvt. Thomas G. Campbell* Enlisted on Aug 31,1861 in the Rives Battery.On April 10,1863 he was admitted to general hospital in Charlottesville for debilitas and typhoid fever and transferred to general hospital in Lynchburg

  Pvt. Thomas Massie Campbell b. on April 15, 1842 Enlisted on Aug 31, 1861 Nelson County, Va into Rives' Amherst-Nelson Light Artillery at the age of 21 years old.

  Pvt. William Alexander Campbell* b. on Sep 16, 1847 in Massie Mill, Nelson Co, VA. Enlisted in 1865 into Rives' Amherst-Nelson Light Artillery. On Feb 12, 1919 he died. Buried in Jonesboro Cemetery, Roseland, Nelson Co, VA.

  Pvt. William Daniel Campbell* b. 1843 Enlisted on March 13, 1863 at Amherst Courthouse into the Amherst Rifle Grays Co. I, 19th Va Infantry. He was wounded at the battle of Gettysburg.

  Pvt. William Harry Campbell* b. in 1830 in Amherst Co., Va. Enlisted on April 29, 1861 at Buffalo Springs, Va as a Private.On May 29,1861 he was mustered into the Amherst Rifle Grays Co. I, 19th Va Infantry. On May 5, 1862 he was wounded at the Battle of Williamburg. In July 1895 he died.

  Pvt. William Thomas Campbell b. in 1831 Enlisted on May 15, 1862 at Amherst Court House, Va into Co. I, 19th Infantry. On Aug 30, 1862 Wounded at 2nd Manassas, Va. He was sent home sick with fever on a sick furlow and died in a few days there after on June 7, 1863.
